•Even if the negotiation between your creditor and the debt counselor continues you should not stop paying the bills
•Always try to be regular in payment to avoid late fee or penalty
•Take confirmed information from your creditor regarding the functions of the debt counselors
•Watch and keep record that the debt counselor team is paying your debts

Another effective step to be undertaken in the debt management program is to go for the debt consolidation loans. It also plays a vital role in repaying debts. A debt consolidation loan merges all debts in to it and thus, the rate of interest also becomes one. So, with the help of this loan you can pay off all your debts. However,

We're retired and have a current credit card (multiple) debt of $100K. We also turned 80 last year and don't own anything. Our pension is modest. unsecured business line of credit
I have an unsecured business line of credit with a balance of about $50k through Wachovia, which is now owned by Wells Fargo. Do these types of accounts offer settlement the same as credit card accounts?
What if you can not afford settlement
I have lot of debt 80k all on the credit card and income has dropped and have no savings and can not pay. What options do I have? What happens to debt?

you should opt for debt consolidation if you have more than two debts and the debts are above £5,000.

The debt management programs will thus be effective if you know how to follow and perform these. You will never be able to get rid of the excessive debts unless and until you learn to save money and stop unnecessary expenditure.
